Indonesia is a vast country with rich traditions, diverse cultures, culinary delights, and a wide variety of services. This attracts many international tourists who vacation in Indonesia, starting from the island of Bali to the eastern islands, where there are many beautiful beaches. Not to mention Java island with its stunning mountain landscapes. Most of you, or what we usually call “BULE” (foreigners), bring money from your home country – certainly not rupiah. Most of this currency is in the form of US Dollars.
During your stay in Indonesia, there are many expenses to consider. For many foreigners, you might not know how much things cost – food prices, tourist attractions, motorcycle taxis, and much more. Here, I’ll provide information according to the title above: What can you get with 10 US Dollars in Indonesia? First, let me convert it – 10 dollars equals how many rupiah? I estimate that 1 US Dollar = 16,000 Rupiah. So you’ll have around 160,000 Rupiah.
1. All Indonesian Traditional Foods
With 160,000 rupiah, you can enjoy Indonesian traditional dishes for up to 3 meals plus drinks. The average meal in Indonesia costs around 25,000 Rupiah. We assume you’ll eat for more than 25,000. Plus drinks averaging around 15,000 Rupiah. But remember, this is for traditional Indonesian food, not star-rated hotel restaurants, cafes, or other expensive establishments.
Or if you want fast food like McDonald’s, KFC, and similar places, you can get 1-2 meals. However, food in Indonesia is still quite affordable for you as a foreign tourist.
2. Grab – Gojek Car Rides Up to 15 KM
You can definitely travel anywhere within a considerable distance. With just 10 Dollars, you can tour the city or visit nearby tourist spots. You can even go from the airport to your accommodation. Make sure to use the Grab or Gojek apps. I don’t recommend going without these apps as it can be very expensive.
3. Budget Accommodation
You can find cheap lodging – perhaps not hotels, of course, but guesthouses or maybe 1-star accommodations that are sufficient for your stay. A place to rest your body from traveling. But use available apps like Traveloka to keep it affordable.
4. Tourist Attraction Entry
Entrance fees for tourist attractions in Indonesia are quite cheap, especially natural attractions. It’s best to use a tour guide from Indonesia so you can pay at more affordable prices. Indeed, sometimes there are special tourist prices for foreigners at considerably higher rates – usually up to 10 times more than what locals pay. However, there are still many attractions priced below 10 Dollars.
5. Motorcycle Rental for 1 Day – 3 Days
Most foreigners really enjoy touring Indonesia on rental motorcycles. You can visit many tourist spots faster and avoid traffic jams. And with 10 Dollars, you can rent a motorcycle for up to 3 days, depending on the type of motorcycle. If you rent a scooter like an NMax, it might only be for 1 day. But if you rent a smaller motorcycle like a Beat, it might only cost around 50,000/day. Make sure you know where to find cheap motorcycle rentals in your tourist destination.
Honestly, Indonesia is a country with quite affordable prices for foreign tourists. Why is this? Because we have an incredible diversity of dishes and many harvests from Indonesian farmers’ crops directly. It’s even supported by the rupiah currency itself experiencing depreciation against the dollar.
So this is also a positive thing for attracting foreign tourists to enjoy the natural beauty, culture and traditions, spice-flavored traditional foods, coffee and tea in Indonesia, and much more. The beauty of various ethnic groups in Indonesia, each with their own unique characteristics. Would you like to travel to Indonesia? You can ask in the comments. I will answer according to what I know.
